Madagascar is part of the extensive Indian Ocean region and is the world’s fourth biggest island. Most of its mammals, half of its birds and most of its plants exist nowhere else on earth. It is often referred to as the “8th Continent”.
The multi-ethnic population of Madagascar is a mixture of Malayo-Indonesian, sub-Saharan, Arab, European and Indian descent.
